THE INSPIRATION

MADE IN MIAMI

Miami, often called "The bridge to the Americas" is the playground and inspiration for this work that fuses music styles from many of its different cultures. Elements of Pop, Jazz, Funk, R&B, BeBop, Songo, Salsa, Samba and Afro Cuban can be heard through out the eleven songs that are included in this concept album.
Twenty years in the making and featuring world class musicians Arturo Sandoval, Professor Ed Calle, Milton Salcedo, Philip Lassiter, Luis Enrique, what makes this project very special is that the composer, arranger and producer, Camilo Valencia, has undergone two heart transplants and this year is on his way to a third transplant from the hand of God. He has worked on the songs with 3 different hearts. In fact, one of the songs was composed in the room of his last donor in Puerto Rico.

8 One Heart at a Time (feat. Milton Salcedo)
For Stef…
On the beautiful Island of Puerto Rico Stefano Steenbakkers Betancourt, a smart, good looking, full of life teenager with an incredible future was killed by two sons of bitches, now behind bars, who tried to steal his car. He used to say that he was going to change the world “one heart at a time.” And unbeknownst to his parents Stefano was an organ donor. Now, ten years later, I still proudly wear his heart…
